Dave Daubenmire, a former central Ohio high school football coach turned online Christian talk show host, said he wants to sue the NFL for its racy halftime show, which featured performances by Jennifer Lopez and Shakira.
“I was appalled at what I saw — what I thought was a porn show — at halftime during the Super Bowl,” Daubenmire said.
“My greatest complaint isn’t the halftime show itself. It’s the fact that the NFL gave no warning. Here we are watching a football game, next thing you know, a porn show breaks out,” he added.
Daubenmire said he had no way of knowing what to expect from the halftime performance.
“You didn’t tell me I was going to watch it,” he said. “You just brought it into my living room. You didn’t tell me there were going to be crotch shots!”
Daubenmire said that the performance could have caused young boys to get sexually aroused.
“Were there any warnings that your 12-year-old son, whose hormones are getting ready, just starting to operate, were there any warnings that what he was going to see might cause him to get sexually excited?” he asked.
The former coach also expressed worry that seeing half naked people dancing around could dictate how he spends eternity.
“I think we ought to go sit down in the courtroom and present this as evidence of how, whoever is keeping me from getting into the kingdom of heaven,” Daubenmire said. “Could I go into a courtroom and say viewing what you put in that screen put me in danger of hell fire?”
Daubenmire mentioned how it’s unfair that he can be discriminated against, but social media stops right wingers from discriminating against other people.
“That’s discriminatory against the values I have in my house — you can’t just do that,” he said. “They won’t even let you talk about homos on Facebook. I want to sue them. I want to sue them for about $867 trillion dollars.”
Daubenmire said he has met with a lawyer and has plans to move forward with his lawsuit.
“Put a warning up there, cautioning parents that some of the content you might see might not be suitable for young children. I personally resent the fact that they invaded the privacy of my home with stuff I would never look at it if I had a choice,” he said.
