A woman who says she was sexually abused by multimillionaire Jeffrey Epstein when she was underage has filed a lawsuit against high-profile attorney Alan Dershowitz, alleging he made false statements against her.
Virginia Giuffre alleges in the lawsuit that Dershowitz, who used to represent Epstein, knowingly made untrue and defamatory statements about her. She says that Dershowitz was involved in Epstein’s sex trafficking operation and that she had sex with him as part of that operation.
“Defendant Dershowitz was Epstein’s attorney, close friend, and co-conspirator. Dershowitz was also a participant in sex trafficking, including as one of the men to whom Epstein lent out Plaintiff for sex,” the lawsuit alleges.
“No sensible person looks forward to litigation,’’ Giuffre said in a statement. “And I know that standing up for myself and others will cause Mr. Dershowitz and Mr. Epstein to redouble their efforts to destroy me and my reputation. But I can no longer sit by and not respond. As my complaint shows, my abusers have sought to conceal their guilt behind a curtain of lies. My complaint calls for the accounting to which I, and their other victims, are entitled.”
Dershowitz continues to say that the accusations against him are untrue.
“I will prove without any doubt that she is lying about me,” he said. “She is going to end up in prison.”
Epstein has been accused of sexually abusing and trafficking young women to his friends for years. Last December, he settled a lawsuit, escaping a threat that several of his alleged victims would tell their stories in court.
Guiffre says that Dershowitz is still working on behalf of Epstein, who is using Dershowitz to intimidate victims to prevent them from coming forward with their accusations.
