Cohen & Cohen is proud to announce Sydney Williams as the winner of the Adam R. Leighton Scholarship for Academic Excellence. Miss Williams is originally from Georgia and is currently studying journalism at Howard University. Her future goals are to become a criminal defense attorney, and eventually becoming a legal analyst for a major television network. She wants to encourage people to become informed on the technicalities of the legal system.
Adam R. Leighton is an AV-rated personal injury lawyer in Washington, DC. Throughout his academic and professional careers, Mr. Leighton has striven for excellence. He continues that effort as an attorney, working to achieve millions of dollars on behalf of his clients. In his unwavering dedication to law, Mr. Leighton believes in academic excellence. Scholarship will be accepting applications from current students attending either an accredited college or university in the United States. Applicants will be judged on their academic merits as well as the content of the application essay they provide.

Scholarship winner will be notified and announced by November 30th, 2017.
Essay Topic
Millions of individuals capable of achieving academic excellence fail to attend college due to the rising costs of education. How can we, as a nation, provide better access to education for all?
Essays must be between 500 and 1000 words.
Eligibility
- Applicant must be either a current student at an accredited undergraduate college or university or be planning to attend a college or university in the fall of 2017.
- Applicants must have a minimum 3.6 GPA.
- Applicants must submit a copy of their transcript.
