Janice A. Kelly is an AV Rated attorney and supervises the prelitigation department of Cohen & Cohen, PC. She received her Bachelor of Science in Education from Florida State University. Following a career in teaching, she returned to school and earned her law degree from Stetson University College of Law.
Mrs. Kelly began her legal career as a staff attorney to the Honorable Paul W. Danahy, Jr. at the Second District Court of Appeal of Florida. Following this, she entered private practice specializing in analyzing and litigating all aspects of complex first property insurance matters in state and federal courts from pre-suit through conclusion by trial, appeal or alternative mediation or arbitration. She became a partner at Boehm, Brown, Fischer, Harwood, Kelly & Scheihing PA and was recognized as a Top Lawyer in Orlando by Home and Leisure Magazine and as a Firm partner in Best’s Recommended Insurance Attorneys.
Mrs. Kelly has a varied legal carrier, co-authoring “Declaratory Judgments: To Sue or Not To Sue” (ABA 1992) and doing instrumental work in the creation of the Windstorm Insurance Network, Inc where she served not only as Secretary, Vice President, President, Conference Chair but also as a Director on the Board and an annual workshop panelist/speaker. Mrs. Kelly, after 25 years, resigned from Boehm, Brown, et al with 2 of her partners, to form a new firm, Southeast Law Group, PA. More recently, before joining Cohen & Cohen, Mrs. Kelly was Senior Staff Counsel for American Integrity Insurance Company.
Mrs. Kelly is a member of the District of Columbia and the Florida Bars, a member of the American Bar and the Federal Bar Associations, and is also admitted to practice before the Northern, Middle, and Southern US District Courts for Florida and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
